ACE: A hole in one! (Note: nothing to do with tennis or playing cards).  ADDRESSING THE BALL: To take your stance and get ready to hit the ball. Ace:  A hole in one. Albatross:  Three strokes under par for a given hole. American Links:  An American variation of the Links concept which incorporates trees, rolling terrain and grass expanses. Approach Shot:  A relatively short shot played from off the green onto the green. Apron:  The short fringe surrounding the green which isolates it from the fairway.
